Literature & The Arts

Lynda Chanwai-Earle

Is a poet, performance artist, filmmaker, playwright and actor. In Gasp she recalls the sinking of the Russian cruise liner Mikhail Lermontov.

Alison Wong

Was the 2002 Burns Fellow at Otago University. She used the time and space the fellowship afforded to develop ideas and undertake further research on her novel set in the period of her grandfather. (It is, she emphasises, not a novel about her grandfather.)

In this lecture in the series Chinese New Zealand organised by the Stout Centre for New Zealand Research she speaks about Writing Fiction from a Cross-Cultural Perspective.

Eric Ngan

Rather unusually for a Chinese person, has made a career in the arts.
